One of the most exciting things about Ant-Man and the Wasp is right there in the title: We finally get to see Wasp (Evangeline Lilly, as Hope van Dyne) in live action. It was teased at the close of Ant-Man, and now it's really happening.
There are plenty of other reasons to get excited about this particular Marvel sequel. Michelle Pfeiffer is returning to superhero films as the original Wasp, Janet van Dyne, so we'll get to learn more about the Pym/van Dyne legacy of heroism. Plus, we get a new villain: Ghost, as played by Killjoys star Hannah John-Kamen.
In the original comics, the Ghost is a man, but John-Kamen is the kind of genre star who will no doubt give it her own spin in a very good way. Ghost is a villain with a stealth suit of her own design, and while we haven't really seen much to give us context for the movie version yet, a new set video did recently emerge to get everyone excited. It's very brief, and it only gives us a glimpse of some stunt work, but it's still invigorating. Check it out:
A few photos also emerged via Twitter to give us more glimpses of Lilly in all her Wasp suit glory.
For many Marvel fans (myself included), the exclusion of Wasp from the original Avengers lineup in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was a problem. It robbed us of a little piece of comic book history. So, to finally see that particular hero really digging into the action (even if it's not Janet) is a big deal. Lilly seems poised to absolutely crush this. We'll find out for sure when Ant-Man and the Wasp debuts July 6, 2018.
