Is that you, Johnny Depp? Are you in there? Once again, the actor's gone pale and pasty for his latest role in Tim Burton's Dark Shadows. Move over, Edward Scissorhands and Sweeney Todd, say hello to vampire Barnabas.
One of Depp's biggest fan sites, Johnny Depp Italia, got its hands on a new photo from this summer's Dark Shadows remake. It features Depp as bloodsucker Barnabas Collins and Michelle Pfeiffer as matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard. The film is based on the soap opera of the same name that ran from 1966-1971. Coincidentally, Burton's version takes place in 1972.
Dark Shadows centers on Barnabas, a Liverpool native who moved (with his family) to America in 1752. He grew up to become one of the most popular residents of Collinsport, Maine, and the master of Collinwood Manor. He had everything: good looks, charm and money. Too bad he lost it all when he screwed over Angelique (Eva Green), his ex-girlfriend, who happened to be a witch!
Angelique uses her powers to turn Barnabas into a vampire and buries him alive. But somehow, some way he emerges hundreds of years later and wants to reclaim what's his. Unfortunately, the times have changed and his family and estate aren't what they used to be.
Dark Shadows hits theaters May 11.
