You never know when you're going to encounter your next beautiful cinnamon roll. A term originally coined by The Onion, it's since become a means of describing characters who are precious, endearing, or otherwise worthy of treasure. And no one has embodied that more perfectly in recent days than Deadpool 2's Yukio (Shioli Kutsuna), who is, quite frankly, the hero we all need—because she manages to disarm the utterly d*ckish Wade Wilson with little more than a smile and wave.
Let's face it: Deadpool is kind of a chump. Sure, he makes funny jokes and isn't ashamed to acknowledge his sexuality (it flows like a river), but most of the time he is a complete assh*le—except when Yukio is around.
We meet Yukio thanks to her girlfriend, Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), and if there were ever a pair of gay mutants who perfectly embodied the cat/dog dynamic, it's these two. Negasonic Teenage Warhead will flip you off if you say hi to her. Yukio will say hi back and probably give you a hug, and then maybe offer to get you some coffee or tea because she is just that precious.
Sure, Yukio has mutant abilities too, and they're pretty cool when she finally gets to use them in DP 2—but if you told me she could actually kill someone with kindness (or at least leave them incapacitated and bleeding) I would not be surprised. She is a precious cinnamon roll full of sunshine and lightning and sparkles and queer rainbows.
Who can stand against the most pure and precious of them all? Not Wade Wilson, that's for sure.
