Director Christopher Nolan is so pleased with the work of one of the cast members of The Dark Knight Rises that he thinks a spinoff movie is in order. But who is the actor, and will he direct it?
Nolan told Access Hollywood that Anne Hathaway has done a fantastic job bringing Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, to life in his third and final Batman outing.
The filmmaker explained, "Anne is incredibly precise and articulate about the psychology of the character. She's really built it from the ground up, it's just a delight to watch her perform. ... She's an incredible character and we're very excited to see her, and hopefully we'll leave people wanting more."
Wait! So does that mean he would like to see her in her own movie? And would he be interested in directing it?
"For me, Gotham and these characters, I'm done," he continued. "I've told our story and I'm moving on ... [but] I certainly think she deserves it, she's incredible."
Of course, a Catwoman solo film was made in 2004, with Halle Berry in the title role, which was only loosely connected to the classic Bat-villainess. The movie was a resounding flop, voted one of the worst of the year, and arguably dealt a near-fatal blow to Berry's career.
So perhaps Hathaway should run like a cat from any studio executives who start asking her about her own Selina Kyle franchise ...
