It takes a special woman to be Charles Bartowski's mom. After all, he's the King of Geeks and needs parents (that is, actors) big enough to support his Nerd Herd status. Daddy (Scott Bakula) was the captain of a starship (Enterprise) and a noted time-traveler (Quantum Leap). So his mother should have some sci-fi street cred, too. And whoa mama, does she ever!
Chuck creators/executive producers Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak announced at San Diego Comic-Con that Sarah Connor ... er, Linda Hamilton (sorry, got carried away there) would have a recurring role as Chuck's missing mother, Mary Bartowski, in the upcoming Season 4.
In an interview posted on The Ausiello Files, Schwartz said, "If Chuck and Morgan were watching Chuck, they would be excited about Linda coming on board." To which Fedak added: "Chuck was certainly a Terminator fan, and Morgan was a Beauty and the Beast fan."
Season 3 ended with a pre-recorded video of Chuck's dad giving an ominous message from beyond the grave which ended with: " ... it's time you learned about your family." And that's the big question: Where has Mom been all these years?
Other noted guests in the upcoming season: Olivia Munn, Dolph Lundgren, Nicole Richie (returning as Sarah's high-school nemesis), Isaiah Mustafa (the Old Spice Guy), and Jeffster covering Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance."
Don't worry, Chuck! Mom will teach you about guns, romance with furries and "No fate but what you make."
Chuck premieres on Sept. 20, 2010, with "Chuck Versus the Anniversary."
