Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is about to finish its first season, and the characters have been put through their paces, run through the wringer, and definitely got the short end of the stick. But one character who has come up worse for wear is Agent Phil Coulson. And actor Clark Gregg has a few words to say about the season's penultimate and ultimate episodes.
According to Comic Book Resources, Gregg gave some hints as to what we'll be seeing when the fat lady sings.
...S.H.I.E.L.D. essentially destroyed Coulson and his team, [who are] on the run. I think there's a lot to accomplish in the last episodes in terms of settling those scores.
I guess the thing I would say is, I think they might have picked the wrong moment to mess with Phil Coulson. This guy's been through a lot, starting with being stabbed during "The Avengers," and nothing's going right for him. I've got a feeling he's going to find a way to kind of give back as well as he's been receiving.
He didn't elaborate on exactly how Coulson will give as good as he gets, but he does admit he hasn't read Avengers: Age of Ultron script -- not surprising, considering it's unlikely that he'll be appearing.
And speaking of appearances, when asked about another appearance of Audrey, the Cellist, played by Amy Acker, Gregg keeps the truth under his hat.
I think we'll see her again. I may not be at liberty to say when!
But as anyone who can read Amy Acker's IMDB page can tell you, she'll be appearing in the season finale.
Coulson's lost love appearing in the last episode of the season, after a series of one-two punches that left the audience breathless? Of course. Because when it rains, it pours.
