This classic Star Wars vehicle is getting an upgrade for The Last Jedi

There's a classic Star Wars vehicle about to get a very cool upgrade for director Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

According to the good folks at Making Star Wars, the dastardly and evil First Order will be putting their own spin on the old Imperial AT-AT Walkers; and they're not the same mechanical behemoths we saw on Starkiller Base in The Force Awakens.

The site reports that The Last Jedi will feature what is called the “First Order Heavy Assault Walkers.” Apparently, the new walkers will resemble gorillas (yep, that's what they said) and be “huge and chunky.” And from the look of things, the new model will be twice the size of the original AT-AT Walkers (as per the sketch below).

Not only will The Last Jedi’s Heavy Assault Walkers be massive in scale, they'll boast heavier armor as well as thick reinforced legs, fixing the weaknesses of the old AT-ATs and making it that much harder for the Rebel Alliance’s fighters to take down. The site also adds that a lot of those Heavy Assault Walkers will be involved in a “large sequence” in the upcoming Star Wars movie. Meaning: We're getting another epic battle, you guys! Yass!

Have a look at the two sketches (the second one is from Lumberjack Nick) to get a feel of the new walkers, and let us know what you think. (For more detailed info you can go here.) Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens on Dec. 15.
