It's very strange to think that Milla Jovovich’s journey as Alice will be coming to a close 15 years after it began when Resident Evil: The Final Chapter arrives in theaters Friday. Such a long, strange and thrilling journey it's been!
Back for the final curtain are Iain Glen as Dr. Alexander Isaacs, Shawn Roberts as Albert Wesker and Ali Larter as Claire Redfield. If you were holding out hope for the return of Chris Redfield (Wentworth Miller), Jill Valentine (Sienna Guillory), Leon S. Kennedy (Jonathan Urb) or Ada Wong (Bingbing Li), unfortunately none of them will be in the final film. However, even though the franchise is ending, the movie will take the time to introduce last-minute new characters played by Eoin Macken, Ruby Rose, William Levy, Fraser James and Rola.
Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, humanity is on its last legs after Alice is betrayed by Wesker in Washington D.C. As the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead hordes, Alice must return to where the nightmare began – Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse. In a race against time Alice will join forces with old friends, and an unlikely ally, in an action packed battle with undead hordes and new mutant monsters. Between losing her superhuman abilities and Umbrella’s impending attack, this will be Alice’s most difficult adventure as she fights to save humanity, which is on the brink of oblivion.
A new IMAX featurette has been released in which writer/director Paul W.S. Anderson reveals that the truth about Alice, the Red Queen and the Umbrella Corporation's agenda will be revealed. Also chatting about the movie and its South African production are Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter and Eoin Macken. Check it out below, and let us know if you're planning on seeing the movie!
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter opens on Friday, Jan. 27.
