Comic book legend Len Wein has passed away. He was the co-creator and writer of such iconic characters as Wolverine and Swamp Thing. In addition to Wolverine he also co-created X-Men characters Storm, Colossus, and Nightcrawler when Marvel revitalized the superhero series in 1975 with Giant Sized X-Men #1.
He also created many other notable characters, including the Suicide Squad's Amanda Waller and Batman's Lucius Fox.
He was also an editor at DC Comics during the 1980s and shepherded a number of well-known projects there, including Alan Moore's and Dave Gibbons' 12-part mini-series, Watchmen.
Wein remained a seminal figure in comics throughout his life and continued to write in the industry.
Len Wein was 69.
