It looks like Dazzler, aka Alison Blaire, is joining the live-action X-Men universe – for real this time. Last year, it was rumored that she would appear in X-Men: Apocalypse. But it was actually a partial cameo that didn't make the final cut. Now EW is reporting that she is confirmed for the upcoming sequel, X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
Dazzler is a unique character who's very different from her peers. She grew up wanting to perform. In fact, her lofty popstar goals were a byproduct of the early '80s, when the character was first introduced in X-Men #130 (1980). Dazzler's mutant powers allow her to “transduce sonic vibrations into various types of light,” which coincidentally works well for her live shows.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix will center on the evolution of Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) into a powerful and uncontrollable entity. We saw a glimpe of her transformation in Apocalypse, and now the story will take center stage. So, don’t expect Dazzler to do too much. She's slated for a small role that's yet to be cast.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix hits theaters Nov. 2, 2018.
