Dwayne Johnson is done playing games with fans. He's finally confirmed what character he'll portray in an upcoming DC film. It was a tossup between Shazam and Black Adam, the hero and the villain turned antihero. According to the actor and Variety, he'll be taking on the latter.
Johnson is attached to star in Shazam, which will be written by Darren Lemke (Turbo and Jack the Giant Slayer). He will play Black Adam, leaving the title role up for grabs. Wednesday morning, the actor tweeted out a photo of the two characters. He confirmed his role by using the hashtags: #BlackAdam, #TheAntiHero and #DCComics.
Since they've just nailed down a writer, a production date hasn't been set. The general consensus is that once a draft is done, the studio will fast-track filming. This could be another hit franchise for Johnson's action-heavy resume. He's already a significant part of the G.I. Joe and Fast & Furious series.
