Screen Gems' Resident Evil: Retribution will have zombies, more Milla Jovovich and a side of Paul W.S. Anderson. The actress and director have officially been confirmed for the fifth entry in the horror series.
Paul W.S. Anderson will both direct and write the screenplay for the new Resident Evil. Is that a good or a bad idea? You tell us! While he's pulling double duty behind the scenes, Jovovich will once again reprise her role as the franchise heroine Alice.
On another note, one of the main characters from the RE videogames (on which the films are based) might get a recast. [Spoilers for Resident Evil: Afterlife] At the end of the last film, Jill Valentine made a cameo appearance that set her up for a big return. Sienna Guillory originally played Valentine in Afterlife and Resident Evil: Apocalypse, but sources are claiming that she's out.
The role is supposedly being recast, which is unfortunate, because she was a great Jill. A new actress has yet to be confirmed, and it leaves us wondering ... who could fill Guillory's shoes?
Resident Evil: Retribution is scheduled to hit theaters on Sept. 14, 2012.
