The cast for AMC's adaptation of Preacher is growing. Even though they haven't filled the title role yet (Dominic Cooper's rumored as the frontrunner), the show's supporting roster is almost complete. And the latest addition is no stranger to comic-book fare.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lucy Griffiths has joined the cast. The actress previously appeared in the pilot for NBC's Constantine, in which she played Liv. In Preacher, she'll star as Emily Woodrow, "a no-nonsense single mother of three. Emily's a waitress, the church organist, bookkeeper and Jesse's loyal right hand. Stoic and strong, wise beyond her years, she can’t help but have a little thing for Preacher Jesse."
Griffiths will join Ruth Negga's Tulip, Joseph Gilgun's Irish vampire Cassidy, and Ian Colletti as Eugene Root (aka Arseface). The series is being spearheaded by Seth Rogen and his producing partner Evan Goldberg, as well as Breaking Bad's Sam Catlin.
"Based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's controversial 1990s series from DC Comics imprint Vertigo, Preacher revolves around Rev. Jesse Custer, a badass Texas preacher who, after losing his faith, learns that God has left heaven and forsaken his duties. Jesse becomes the only one who is able to track God down and hold him responsible for his abdication. Tulip O'Hare (Negga), Jesse's ex-girlfriend, accompanies him on his quest for answers. But the story doesn't end there: The Saint of Killers, an immortal killing machine and Western lone gunman type, is hot on their trail with his sights set on Jesse."
Griffiths previously appeared on HBO's True Blood as Nora, and BBC's Robin Hood as Marian.
