Whatever else one may think of nerds, sometimes the obsessive streak that we all share can, occasionally, give way to brilliance. Hence this massive, Renaissance-esque tableau, which imagines the Star Wars saga's cast in Da Vinci's Last Supper. And what look like painterly flourishes are actually the telltale marks of a mosaic.
Artist Avinash Arora has used exactly 70,448 images from all six Star Wars movies to make his mosiac. By working at an immense size and then shrinking the piece down, he's induced those images to blur and meld and reveal something glorious.
There are some highlights of the mosaic below; head over to Arora's site for ridiculously large versions.
