How does an actor convince a director he can play an antisocial voyeur—both young and old—with delusions of grandeur? To find out, take a look at Crispin Glover's George McFly screen tests for Robert Zemeckis.
This footage—seemingly taken from old VHS tests found in someone's moldy basement—shows Glover improvising alongside Lea Thomson (Lorraine), Thomas F. Wilson (Biff Tannen) and an unknown actor playing Marty.
Watching Glover ramble his way through a character study of a man who knows life has left him behind makes you realize what a talented actor he can be—just as you realize that Hollywood has left him behind, too.
