Earlier this week, we found out that Daniel Dae Kim may be joining next year's Hellboy reboot, and now we know for sure that it is definitely happening!
Kim will be taking on the role of Major Ben Daimio, the part originally given to Ed Skrein, to uproarious accusations of whitewashing. For his part, though, Kim seems to be happy with Lionsgate and Skrein's decisions, given the circumstances.
"I applaud the producers and, in particular, Ed Skrein for championing the notion that Asian characters should be played by Asian or Asian American actors," said Kim in a statement.
Kim will be playing Ben Daimio, a former Marine and longtime agent of the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense, who was resurrected by a jaguar god after a mission gone wrong. He will be playing the character alongside star David Harbour, who we got our first look at in-costume earlier today. The movie, directed by Neil Marshall, is slated for a 2018 release.
It's been a big day for Hellboy news, how do you think the reboot is shaping up? Let us know in the comments!
