The Dathomirian devil, Darth Maul, finally gets the comics love he deserves in Marvel's upcoming Star Wars spinoff, Darth Maul, a five-issue miniseries that acts as a prequel story for this fan-favorite character and chronicles the horned Sith's early attachment to Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine and his eventual role as a dreaded Jedi slayer. This limited series will be written by the prolific Cullen Bunn (The Sixth Gun, Micronauts, Monsters Unleashed), with art by Luke Ross (Secret Avengers, Star Wars: The Force Awakens Adaptation), and infiltrates comic shops on Feb. 1, 2017. With Marvel already spotlighting a slew of its legacy Star Wars characters in these five-issue solo series over the past two years, such as Princess Leia, Chewbacca, Obi-Wan and Anakin, Lando Calrissian, Poe Dameron and Han Solo, it's high time Darth Maul was given his time in the limelight.
Here's the official synopsis:
Bred on hate, fear, and anger. Steeped in the ways of darkness … trained to kill. Darth Maul’s time as an apprentice to Darth Sidious has long been cloaked in shadows, but at last we will reveal his tale of revenge. His master tells him to embrace his anger, but to stay hidden and bide his time. Maul has waited long enough – his patience growing ever thinner. His moment to step into the light has finally come. Prepare for a tale of unbridled rage as Darth Maul readies one of his first encounters with his mortal enemy … with the Jedi.
