By the power of Grayskull – He-Man may have just found his new director!
Per the report, Goyer is said to have written the most recent draft of the script, and Sony Pictures has set a potential release date of Dec. 18, 2019.
The project itself has been in development since 2009, and earlier this year you may recall hearing Charlie’s Angels filmmaker McG’s name also being tossed into the hat.
Now all eyes are on Goyer to breathe new life into the franchise, which started out with the Mattel toy and a successful animated series that ran from 1983 until 1985. The Blade: Trinity director has some pretty impressive writing credits to his name, most notably Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, and he's arguably the most exciting option yet to be associated with the reboot.
In terms of having big cinematic shoes to fill, well, we’d say it’s safe to assume Goyer’s vision won’t be borrowing too much from the 1987 film starring Dolph Lundgren. Don’t get us wrong, the cult movie still has a place in our hearts, but it’s also high time He-Man was given another chance to flex his muscles on the big screen.
The original story revolves around He-Man and his alter ego Prince Adam, who, along with his friends, defend the realm of Eternia and the secrets of Castle Grayskull from the evil forces of Skeletor.
