Earlier this week, Hollywood was shocked and saddened by the death of stuntwoman Joi "SJ" Harris during an action sequence on the set of Deadpool 2. The woman for whom Harris was doubling as the mutant Domino, actress Zazie Beetz, has now released a handwritten statement on Instagram:

“On Monday we tragically lost one of our own — Joi ‘SJ’ Harris. My heart has been breaking the past two days and I have been searching what to say or do. I know that what I feel is nothing compared to what her loved ones, friends and family, are feeling. My heart and my love goes out to her and them all. The cast and crew send peace, healing, and their deepest condolences.”

Harris died after she lost control of her motorcycle and drove into a glass window while performing a stunt for the upcoming film. She was an accomplished motorcycle racer and the first African-American woman licensed to compete against men in American Motorcyclist Association events. Deadpool 2 was Harris' first film.

Deadpool 2 is currently expected to hit theaters June 1, 2018.
