Netflix has released a fiery trailer for their upcoming anime series Devilman Crybaby.
A Netflix Original Series, the streaming giant announced earlier today that Devilman Crybaby will debut in early spring of 2018. Based on Go Nagai’s ultra-violent Devilman manga, which ran between 1972-1973 (with an anime television series airing the same year), the anime will be available in 190 countries and territories, and will have nine spoken languages, as well as 25 subtitle languages.
The 10-episode series is helmed by Masaaki Yuasa (Ping Pong the Animation, Mind Game) from a screenplay by Ichiro Okouchi (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, Valvrave the Liberator). Eunyoung Choi is on board as animation producer while Aniplex and Dynamic Planning are producing.
Read up on the official synopsis before taking a look at the trailer:
The protagonist Akira Fudo (Koki Uchiyama) learns from his best friend, Ryo Asuka (Ayumu Murase), that an ancient race of demons has returned to take back the world from humans. Ryo tells Akira that the only way to defeat the demons is to incorporate their supernatural powers, and suggests that he unite with a demon himself. Akira succeeds in transforming into Devilman, who possesses both the powers of a demon and the soul of a human. The battle of Devilman and Akira Fudo begins.
