Despite all the rumors and alleged confirmations, we still don’t officially know exactly which characters are coming back for Star Wars: Episode VII. But original C-3PO actor Anthony Daniels might’ve just let one shiny gold cat out of the bag.
Daniels spoke at New York Comic-Con, where he was asked about his potential return. The 67-year-old holds the rare distinction of being the only actor to appear in all six Star Wars films. Wait, or is it seven? Hmm.
Here’s an excerpt from Film Buff Online’s report:
“Walls have ears. And we know what they look like. They’re very big ears…” the man inside the C-3P0 costume stated as to why he wouldn’t be speaking at all about the impending sequel while at the same time pantomiming a set of Mickey Mouse ears… However, towards the end of the panel, Daniels was asked about being the only actor who appeared in all six episodes of the franchise and “maybe seven?”
“Yes, I am the only actor to be in all seven because I feel -” Daniels replied before catching himself. “Six! Whatever.” He then went on to pantomime a call back to his “big ears” comment from the start of the panel.
It wouldn’t be much of a surprise if Daniels did come back, especially considering that the iconic robot character is almost a given to return. But since he’s in a suit (or could become CGI at this point), there’s always the option to recast. Here’s hoping that’s not the case, and Daniels gets a chance to go seven-for-seven.
What do you think? Is C-3PO coming back?
