Guardians of the Galaxy helmer James Gunn has unleashed a brand-new pic on his Facebook page that may hint at a certain Avenger showing up for a cool cameo in Marvel’s cosmic movie.
Gunn proved himself worthy of Thor’s hammer by posting a pic of himself holding Mjolnir with the caption “Getting ready to hang a painting.” Now, this could mean nothing more than the director goofing around with the awesome movie prop or (and I much prefer that or) it could be a hint that Thor (Chris Hemsworth) himself will make a cameo appearance in the movie -- which could nicely explain how Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) will make his way back to Earth for Avengers: Infinity War – Part I.
If you guys will recall, it’s not the first time the two movie franchises have "interacted." Volstagg (Ray Stevenson) and Lady Sif (Jaime Alexander) showed up at Taneleer Tivan, aka the Collector's (Benicio del Toro), place on Knowhere during the mid-credits scene in Thor: The Dark World before we saw them again in Guardians of the Galaxy. This scene proved the Asgardians know about the other alien worlds in the galaxy and clearly have the ability to travel there (thanks to Idris Elba's Heimdall and the Bifrost).
Will the Mighty God of Thunder step over that bridge (pun intended) to bring 'em over? Food for thought. And with Thor going on a cosmic road trip across the Nine Realms in Thor: Ragnarok later in the year… just saying. That or James Gunn is being a Mighty Tease!
Set to the backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' continues the team's adventures as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill's true parentage.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is slated to open on May 5, 2017. What say you?
