Disney has finally released our first official look at Emma Watson and Dan Stevens together as Beauty & The Beast for its upcoming live-action movie.
The new images, released via the good folks at Entertainment Weekly, show Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as the titular Beast, Kevin Kline as Maurice, Luke Evans as Gaston and Josh Gad as Le Fou, as well as our quartet of CGI characters Cogsworth (played by Ian McKellen), Mrs. Potts (Emma Thompson), Lumière (Ewan McGregor) and Plumette (Gugu Mbatha-Raw). The sumptuous pics also offer our first look at the Downton Abbey actor as the Beast. A first teaser trailer was released back in May, but the character was MIA. Now that the Beast has been revealed, I'm guessing it shouldn't be too long before we get a full trailer?
Directed by Bill Condon (Mr. Holmes) from a screenplay by Evan Spiliotopoulos (The Huntsman: Winter’s War) and Stephen Chbosky (Jericho, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, which also starred Watson), the new movie is based on Disney’s 1991 Oscar-nominated Beauty and the Beast animated feature. The movie is only the latest entry into the House of Mouse’s ever-growing list of live-action versions of their animated films (see: Maleficent, Cinderella, The Jungle Book, just to name a few). Take a look at the pics in the gallery below (underneath the teaser), and let us know what you think.
Beauty and the Beast will open the doors to its enchanted castle on March 17, 2017.
