Remember when Community star Donald Glover was in the running to play Spider-Man? Technically, he wasn't really in the running, but there was a Twitter campaign suggesting his casting. In the end, Andrew Garfield got the part, but that doesn't mean Glover can't get the glory.
Glover recently spoke to MTV and confirmed that he makes a small appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man. Director Marc Webb makes reference to the actor in the set decoration of Peter Parker's bedroom.
"I was pretty aware of the Easter egg that Marc Webb put in there because he asked me—I guess when they were filming it—if it was OK to do it," Glover said. "I was like 'Sure.' For some reason, I didn't think they needed to ask my permission, but I guess they did. So there's some stuff in Spider-Man's bedroom that's reflective of his musical or television taste."
So what is it? Is there a poster of Childish Gambino (Glover's rap alias) on Peter's wall? Will he own Community on DVD? Or will a Greendale Human Beings T-shirt lie strategically across his bed? Glover won't spoil the surprise. "I don't know. I'm not allowed to talk about it," he said. "I had to sign some stuff, but I think it's pretty dope."
Sounds like we'll just have to wait it out.
The Amazing Spider-Man opens in theaters July 3.
