Marvel exec Kevin Feige made waves when he said he could see Iron Man eventually played by a different actor, ala James Bond, if Robert Downey Jr. ever decided to hang up his armor. Now, Downey himself has chimed in.
When asked his response to Feige's comments by MTV News, Downey was his usual snarky self.
"I would really hate for someone else to think they could step into my shoes," he said, before asking the reporter, "I wonder who's playing Tony Stark next. Is it you? Is that what you're here to tell me?"
He then got a bit more serious, noting that his involvement will always depend on the quality of the work—and he indicated that as long as the Marvel movies are good, he plans to hang around.
"I know things are looking like that they could go on for a long while," Downey said. "As usual in my book, it's all about quality control and delivering a product that you can have this kind of reaction to. If they keep doing that, maybe I'll keep showing up."
