Iron Man 2 star Robert Downey Jr. told MTV.com that fellow Oscar nominee Mickey Rourke, who is in talks to appear in the sequel, will NOT play the Soviet-era villain the Crimson Dynamo, as was reported earlier.
"That's actually incorrect," Downey told MTV News when asked if Rourke was being considered for the aforementioned Iron Man nemesis. When pressed as to whether, instead of Crimson Dynamo, Rourke was up for the role of Whiplash, Downey said: "I can neither confirm nor deny that. Or maybe it's some semblance of both. Here, I can tell you everything about the story except I won't give away the ending. The nerd stuff is top-drawer security."
Rourke's casting has been reported, though the deal is not locked down yet. The sequel's casting remains in flux, as Samuel L. Jackson has suggested that he may not appear again as Nick Fury and that Emily Blunt may not be able to play the Black Widow due to scheduling conflicts.
