There's a new sword-and-sandal epic called Dragon Blade, and it might just have the weirdest cast in the history of epic action films. Seriously, you have to see this.
The film, which is already a massive hit in China, stars Jackie Chan (Rush Hour), Adrien Brody (Predators) and John Cusack (1408). For a period-set action epic, that is a decidedly odd group of stars. Like, seeing John Cusack decked out in Roman armor might be the weirdest thing you'll see this week.
Despite being titled Dragon Blade, the film doesn't seem to actually star any dragons — and instead focuses on Chinese warrior Huo An (Chan), who teams up with a Roman General (Cusack) who has defected. The two are out to defend Huo An's homeland from the Roman leader Tiberius (Brody), who is attempting to lay claim to the Silk Road. Chan doesn't look too out of place (this is an action movie, after all), and Brody is at his most badass here (see: bare-handed sword catch). But it's Cusack, with his understated approach to the over-the-top material, who really holds this thing together.
