Barb on Stranger Things gives credence to the old saying "gone, but not forgotten." The Demogorgon might have killed her in Season 1 (although we're still holding out hope she's not dead), but Barb Holland has lived on in the hearts and minds of Netflix's supernatural throwback series. Speaking to SYFY WIRE at Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle, the actress who played Barb, Shannon Purser, talked about the amazing reaction to her character on the show.
Initially, Purser was afraid people would just forget about Barb because she is just a secondary player, the best friend of Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer). However, her unjust death at the hands of an inter-dimensional monster was not ignored.
"The show came out and the internet revolted," said the 20-year-old actress. "I was just really blown away. I owe so much to you guys for watching and enjoying what I do, so thanks," she finished, referring to fans of the show.
When asked how often people just scream "BARB!" at her, Purser revealed that she basically goes by that name now. Even her own mother has accidentally called her that name. "I was ashamed," said Purser with a laugh at the audience's indignation. "Honestly, it's fine."
Now, she just needs to legally change her name to Barb and we can all celebrate with a scrumptious chicken dinner!Watch our full interview with Ms. Purser below ...
