The cast of Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency understands that you may have gotten a little confused watching the first season. In fact, Elijah Wood, who stars as Todd Brotzman on the BBC America show, told SYFY WIRE that even the cast got confused at times.
"It's very informationally dense," Wood said with a smile in our Comic-Con interview below. "We were confused when we were making it at times! But we had this belief that it would work, regardless of whether you got all the hints and clues and it all made sense in the end."
Don't expect the series to tone down the weirdness, though, as Hannah Marks (Amanda) said,"I think [Season 2] is probably 4 to 5 times as weird." The cast laughed, but also all nodded and agreed. Samuel Barnett chimed in to say, "It gets deeper, in terms of fantasy and on a human level."
Indeed, writer Max Landis loves embracing the "anything can happen, everything is on the table, no toy is forbidden, as long as you can find a way to bulls*** a way into a connection. It's everything you want."
"Season 2 is actually more insane, more out there, the pieces are even weirder... there is a purple eater in this season of television," Landis teased.
Jade Eshete is glad there's "so much more you'll learn about the characters this season."
Barnett loves that the show "means something different to everybody." And Wood agrees.
"As much as it's about the mystery, it's really about these characters, and the journey they're going on, and they're all flawed!" said Marks. "It is rare that losers get to be the leads on a show."
