Based on the Stephen King novella of the same name, Spike’s The Mist is slated to debut next month. To whet our appetite for the upcoming series, a behind-the-scenes look has dropped.

Titled “Entering The Mist,” the video features interviews with Danish series creator and showrunner Christian Torpe (Rita) as well as stars Darren Pettie (Connor Heisel), Frances Conroy (Natalie Raven), Gus Birney (Alex Copeland), Danica Curcic (Mia Lambert), Dan Butler (Father Romanov), Isiah Whitlock Jr. (Gus Redman), Morgan Spector (Kevin Copeland), Okezie Morro (Bryan Hunt) and former Vikings alum Alyssa Sutherland (Eve Copeland).

The 10-episode psychological thriller (with monsters!) will follow two main groups: one stuck in a mall and the other in a church. Previously adapted for the big screen in 2007 by Frank Darabont, the movie starring Thomas Jane, Marcia Gay Harden and Laurie Holden centered on a group stranded in a supermarket.

In an interview with EW last month, Torpe said: “I wanted to be respectful to the source material, but my feeling was there was already a great adaptation out there by Frank Darabont. The novella is 200 pages and one location, and we needed to change that to make an ongoing series. But we wanted to remain faithful to the heart of the story.”

As indicated, the changes mean bye-bye supermarket, hello other locations: “We are not just in the mall. We establish different little pressure cookers under the influence of whoever the leader would be in those locations. Each of them comes up with different theories or beliefs about what’s going on. Eventually, the story lines will dovetail and turn into conflicts.” Now this should be fun, don't you think? Check out the video:

Based on a story by Stephen King, Spike’s The Mist centers around a small town family that is torn apart by a brutal crime. As they deal with the fallout, an eerie mist rolls in, suddenly cutting them off from the rest of the world and, in some cases, each other. Family, friends, and adversaries become strange bedfellows, battling the mysterious mist and its threats, fighting to maintain morality and sanity as the rules of society break down.

The Mist will premiere on June 22 at 10 p.m. on Spike.
