The next chapter in the Hunger Games saga is almost here, and a new clip just gave us a taste of the action.
Whether you're into the series of films adapated from Suzanne Collins' best-selling trilogy or not, you can't deny we're just days away from what might be the biggest movie release of 2014. Early ticket sales for Mockingjay Part 1 are huge, the film's enjoying a strong wave of critical acclaim, and the Mockingjay marketing machine is moving at full speed to make sure we just can't escape the flick.
And hey, a lot of us don't want to, particularly after the triumph that was The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. The Francis Lawrence-directed second installment took the franchise to a new level of fan enthusiasm and critical acclaim, and now Lawrence is back to helm the final two chapters of the saga with an expanded cast that includes returning stars Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson and company and a wave of new talent like Julianne Moore, Natalie Dormer and Gwendoline Christie. The film promises to take the anti-Capitol tension ratcheted up by Catching Fire and turn it into an all-out war as Katniss Everdeen fights alongside the District 13 rebellion to end the tyranny of President Snow (Donald Sutherland) once and for all.
We've seen plenty of glimpses of the battles ahead in trailers and TV spots for the flick, and now a new clip is offering us our first extended look at Katniss and the rebels in action. The clip features a team of rebel fighters -- including Katniss, Gale and Dormer's character Cressida -- moving through a bombed-out city under the command of Boggs (Mahershala Ali). When Capitol bombers begin an attack, the group must get to safety, but Katniss proves she's not always ready to follow orders. Check out the clip below.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is in theaters Friday. Will you be watching?
