If the idea of immortal bloodsuckers hunting victims in a claustrophobic Alaskan town in the dead of winter fills you with palpable dread, IDW has an upcoming treat from 30 Days of Night co-creator Steve Niles (Frankenstein Alive!) and artist Piotr Kowalski (Sex, Wolfenstein).
This seminal series from Niles and Ben Templesmith originally debuted with IDW back in 2002. It was a breath of fresh air in the stale territory of horror comics of the time, and was punctuated by stark, grisly art that grabbed readers by the pulsing jugular. It inspired evocative sequels, tie-in novels, an excellent 2007 feature film directed by David Slade, and a 2010 sequel, 30 Days Of Night: Dark Days, directed by Ben Ketai.
This December, the savage undead return to the snow-ravaged confines of sunless Barrow, Alaska in 30 Days Of Night #1, a re-vamped six-issue miniseries from the twisted minds of its original creators.
Here's the official solicitation synopsis:
As the sun sets over an isolated Alaskan township—not to rise again for a month—a new evil emerges from the shadows to terrorize the town… But after a series of strange events and horrific killings, the question becomes what lurks in the shadows? 30 Days of Night is reborn in an all new reimagining of the series designed to titillate the mind and horrify the senses!
