Back in 1942, Jack "The King" Kirby introduced the world to Paul Kirk, a big-game hunter who assumed the moniker of Manhunter and turned to crimefighting when his police officer friend was murdered.
Now, to celebrate the centennial of the comic legend Kirby, DC Comics is bringing Manhunter back with Manhunter Special #1, a one-shot written by co-publisher Dan DiDio and Keith Giffen, with art by Nicholas Bradshaw and a cover by Bruce Timm.
In the story -- part of six stand-alone comics by DC for Kirby's Aug. 28 birthday -- crime has reached epidemic proportions that may push Manhunter to his limits ... and also draw the attention of Golden Age heroes Sandman and Sandy.
Meanwhile, Manhunter Special #1 also features a backup story with another Kirby creation, Etrigan the Demon, written by Sam Humphries with art by Klaus Janson.
Check out our exclusive preview of the comic below and pick up Manhunter when it becomes available Aug. 23.
