Writer Kyle Higgins and artist Daniele di Nicuolo have kicked off the Shattered Grid event with a series of devastating blows to the Power Rangers.

**Spoiler Warning: There are massive spoilers ahead for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #25!**

Lord Drakkon escaped from captivity and murdered the sentient sword Saba, an ally of the Rangers who helped Tommy Oliver and Billy Cranston survive in Drakkon's alternate world. Drakkon even tricked Ninjor into restoring his powers before attacking Tommy shortly after his first date with Kimberly Hart. It was a vicious assault, and Tommy never stood a chance against his evil doppelganger. Now the entire Power Rangers timeline could be at risk.

In the far future, the Power Rangers Time Force was devastated by Drakkon's changes to the past. Time Force Pink Ranger Jen Scotts traveled to the present, but she arrived too late to save the Green Ranger. Tommy is gone, and the fallout from his death will play out in our exclusive preview from next week's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #26.

The continuity for the comic was slightly changed from the TV series by modernizing the first team of Power Rangers. But Tommy was supposed to become the White Ranger, then the Red Ranger, and even a Black Ranger on a future team. Without Tommy, everything changes. And he can't simply be resurrected.

Earlier in the series, Tommy's mother was forced to wonder about his survival when he was on Drakkon's world. This time, the Rangers are at least able to spare her the uncertainty of his fate as they attempt to grieve for their friend.

This battle is far from over. Drakkon is marshalling his forces, but the Power Rangers have allies of their own. The solicitation for this issue teases a team-up with "another team of Power Rangers they've never met before." But considering that Jen lost her Time Force team, it’s unclear which future Rangers will be the next ones to join the fight.

Shattered Grid continues in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #26 on Wednesday, April 18.
