We had a chance to sit down and chat with Thor: The Dark World star Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who told us all about what it takes to be one of the Dark Elves.
Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Lost, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) plays Kurse, the right-hand ass-kicker of Christopher Eccleston’s Malekith, and opened up about what drives the Elves and how they tried to add some depth to what could be a one-note type of villain. As if they weren't already freaky enough, apparently they have a pretty legitimate beef with Asgard.
He also teases how he came up with the character’s super-creepy voice, along with director Alan Taylor’s “textured” approach that he brought over from his tenure on Game of Thrones.
As if that weren’t enough, there’s also some excellent new battle footage, showing Thor (Chris Hemsworth) duking it out with the surprisingly formidable Elves. Which makes sense, since Akinnuoye-Agbaje says he only signed on for the flick to “destroy and kick butt.”
