TNT's hit alien invasion series Falling Skies took some major turns in its second season, and with the third season now in the works, the creators have added two new cast members to the mix. Spoilers for season-two finale!
Robert Sean Leonard (Wilson, House) and Gloria Reuben (Rosalind Whitman, Raising the Bar) will both be joining the show in season three as residents of the recently discovered Charleston community.
Leonard will play Roger Kadar, a quirky scientist who manages Charleston's power grid. According to Deadline, his nickname will be "The Rat King," due to his affinity to pet rats. No, I didn't make that up.
Reuben will take on the role of Marina Perlata, a politically savvy woman who will be an ally to Tom Mason (Noah Wyle).
Both actors are signed on for five-episode arcs in the 10-episode third season.
So what do we learn from this news? For one thing, it seems the love-it-or-hate-it Charleston plot will be sticking around once the show returns. Hopefully more time will give the colony more depth, because the political intrigue in the last two episodes felt a bit rushed after what had been a compelling run for most of the season.
What do you think? Will these two be good additions to the already solid cast?
