Did you think that Apocalypse and his Four Horsemen would be the only bad mutants in X-Men: Apocalypse? Guess again.
According to Cinemablend, the X-Men will have to contend with more than Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), a young Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Angel (Ben Hardy) and Psylocke (Olivia Munn) in director Bryan Singer's upcoming slugfest -- they'll also be facing off against the wall of human flesh known as the Blob.
How did this info come to light? Well, someone named Benjamin Malatre Bureau recently posted a photo on Instagram of a souvenir keychain he says he received after spending "four crazy days" on the film's Quebec set. While there, he says he hung out with Hardy, Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler) and a French-Canadian actor who is playing the Blob. Bureau did not name the actor but claimed he is 540 pounds and will not use either a fat suit or CGI to become the character.

Assuming Bureau is correct, we still don't know what part the Blob will play in the storyline (of which we don't much anyway), but it would be nice to see him onscreen again and with a more substantial role than he had in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, where he was played by Kevin Durand (The Strain) in a brief, throwaway scene in which he fights Logan (Hugh Jackman) in the ring and ends up providing some helpful exposition. The character was originally considered for the first X-Men film, back in 2000, but never made it past the concept stage.
The Blob in fact dates back to 1964 in the comics, when he appeared in X-Men #3, making him one of the team's longest-lasting adversaries. His real name is Fred Dukes, and although he was first spotted as a mutant by Charles Xavier, he was eventually lured into becoming a member of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. He is impervious to a lot of physical injury by virtue of his mass, and his powers include extreme strength and the ability to generate a gravity field that makes him immovable as long as he's on the ground.
Do you want to see the Blob return to the screen? You might get your chance when X-Men: Apocalypse lands in theaters on May 27, 2016.
