The Star Wars franchise is certainly keeping us guessing with yet another surprise directorial choice.
First we all thought, "J.J. Abrams is doing Star Trek and Star Wars?!" and that seemed completely bonkers. Then it was Gareth Edwards leaping hot off the heels of Godzilla to direct a Star Wars spinoff. That was pretty surprising, too.
But this might be the most surprising of them all -- Josh "OMG he's ruining Fantastic Four" Trank is now the latest director selected to take on a Star Wars spinoff film.
Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy seems pretty jazzed about this move, saying, "He is such an incredible talent and has a great imagination and sense of innovation. That makes him perfectly suited to Star Wars, and for this new slate of movies that reach beyond the core characters and storylines of Episodes I through IX."
As for Trank himself, he's over the Death Star, saying, "The magic of the Star Wars Universe defined my entire childhood. The opportunity to expand on that experience for future generations is the most incredible dream of all time."
We're sure your emotions are running high on this news. Chronicle was a solid genre flick operated on a super low budget, but people have been in fits over Trank's Fantastic Four (which he is presently working on) since the start of 2014.
So, have at it! Tell us how you feel, what you think Trank ought to be doing with the franchise, and, more importantly, what he shouldn't be doing.
