First Black Panther teaser shows off the Wakandan King in all his glory

You may think you know a lot about Wakanda, but as the first Black Panther teaser shows, Andy Serkis is the only one who's seen it and made it out alive. One thing's very clear about King T’Challa's (Chadwick Boseman) mystical realm, though: It looks pretty darn incredible.

That's right, MCU fans, as we learned from this morning's first poster debut, the much-anticipated first teaser trailer was set to drop during tonight's NBA finals game -- and drop it did, harder than a game-winning Kevin Durant dagger. Yeah, that sound you just heard was the thunderous thud of a million Marvel fans dropping their collective jaws.

We'll have a full breakdown of the new trailer soon, but in the meantime, check it out in all its glory below, and let us know what you think, after picking up your floored jaw, of course.

Here's the official synopsis:

Marvel Studios' Black Panther follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.

Black Panther stars Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke and Angela Bassett, with Forest Whitaker and Andy Serkis. It's directed by Ryan Coogler and set to open February 16, 2018.
