Sure, all the attention is on this week's boisterous opening of Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman, but here's some confidential Caped Crusader info on the upcoming Batman video game to hold you over until Friday.
Telltale Games, developers of the next big Batman video game coming later this summer, provided some juicy teasers about their latest flagship creation at last week's SXSW Gaming Expo in Austin, even flashing an image of the script for the first episode. Using the working title of Batman: A Telltale Game Series, Telltale CEO Kevin Bruner promised "a lot of new Telltale stuff" would be featured. Avid gamers should recognize many of the trademark touches and creative detours from other Telltale titles like The Walking Dead Michonne, Tales From The Borderlands and Game of Thrones.
"It's still a Telltale game, but it will be evolved from what you've seen [from Telltale] before," explained Bruner. "But I think a more significant step than you've seen from any of our products in the past, both technologically and creatively, I think there's a lot of really cool things going into Batman."
As far as characters go, Team Telltale has further revealed that players would be able to approach scenes as either Bruce Wayne or Batman, with sizeable consequences for both, and that Alfred Pennyworth, Vicki Vale, James Gordon, and Renee Montoya will be fully featured in the game. It's said to be set in the present day, is slated to be rated M and will showcase a more non-photorealistic, comic-book art interpretation of the universe drawn from a wide swath of material, from Neal Adams' angular action scenes, Bob Kane and Bill Finger's original art, Jim Lee's stoic Bruce Wayne, Frank Miller's gritty Dark Knight and the recent Batman comic-book run by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo.
No word on what villains will lurk in this outing, but we'll keep you posted. Anyone you'd like to recruit?
Though no exact plotline has been released, what do you think so far of Telltale's plan to serve up an engaging new Batman game?
