The first full Runaways trailer was released by Hulu just ahead of its panel at New York Comic Con Friday. The trailer poses the question: what if your parents are actually evil? It features several scenes that look like they're ripped directly from the pages of Marvel Comics, where these characters debuted.
The official synopsis reads:
Every teenager thinks their parents are evil. What if you found out they actually were? Marvel’s Runaways is the story of six diverse teenagers who can barely stand each other but who must unite against a common foe – their parents. The 10-episode series premieres Tuesday, November 21st.
The series is based on Runaways, by Brian K. Vaughan, Adrian Alphona, and Christina Strain. In the series, six kids, Alex (Rhenzy Feliz), Nico (Lyrica Okano), Karolina (Virgina Gardner), Gert (Ariela Barer), Chase (Gregg Sulkin), and Molly (Allegra Acosta) were raised with annual visits, while their parents did some strange "charity event." Little did they know, their parents were all supervillains who collectively are known as "The Pride," a group so powerful it controls the entire West Coast of the United States.
Marvel's Runaways is being adapted by showrunners Josh Schwarts and Stephanie Savage (The O.C., Chuck, Gossip Girl) and Marvel Head of Television Jeph Loeb. It's the first of several new series that are aimed at younger audiences in the Marvel TV world. Cloak and Dagger and New Warriors are also on the way from Marvel TV, featuring teen heroes.
Marvel's Runaways debuts on Hulu Tuesday, Nov. 21. The 10-episode first season will be released weekly on the streaming service.
