Filming on Kong: Skull Island is scheduled to begin today (Yay!) and a couple of pics from the set in Hawaii have emerged.
The photos come via Reel Tours Hawaii and feature massive (albeit pink) Kong-like skulls. The movie will follow a team of explorers led by Loki himself, actor Tom Hiddleston, that ventures deep inside the island in order to find the main character’s brother, as well as a mythical serum.
There's also a group shot featuring some of the actors who've already arrived on set, including Samuel L. Jackson. But, alas, no sight of Hiddles yet. But we've got the next best thing, as Jackson made a post on his Instagram account, revealing that he’s learning how to fly a new/vintage chopper.
So ... does this mean a helicopter will be used in the movie, and that Jackson plays the pilot? Could it actually be a hint that it will be set in the modern era? We'll have to wait and see. Here's a short synopsis:
Kong: Skull Island will fully immerse audiences in the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes as a team of explorers ventures deep inside the treacherous, primordial island.
Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts and written by Max Borenstein, John Gatins, Dan Gilroy and Derek Connolly, Kong: Skull Island stars Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, John Goodman, Tian Jing, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, John Ortiz, Shea Whigham and Toby Kebbell. It is set to open in theaters on March 10, 2017.
