First look at David Tennant and Michael Sheen in Good Omens — plus more casting news

We have more Good Omens (pun intended) to share with you today, including a first look at Michael Sheen and David Tennant as their respective characters — the angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley — as well as some juicy casting news for the Amazon series.

First things first. Good Omens creator Neil Gaiman has taken to Twitter to share a pic of the former Doctor Who star (rocking that rock-star look) and Underworld alum (who looks like he could be ... The Doctor) as they filmed the opening scenes of the upcoming six-part one-hour series, which was penned by Gaiman (who also acts as showrunner). "They are amazing. This is them in the opening scenes, 11 years ago, in St James’s Park. David and Michael, demon & angel," he captioned the snap.

It has also been revealed that Emmy winner Douglas Mackinnon (Dirk Gently, Doctor Who, Outlander, Sherlock) will act as director/executive producer.

Joining Sheen and Tennant on Good Omens is Jack Whitehall (Decline and Fall) as “wages clerk-turned-witch hunter” Newt Pulsifer and Miranda Richardson as Madame Tracy, a “psychic medium and part-time courtesan who helps the demon and angel as they try to save the world.”

Currently rounding out the cast are Adria Arjona (Emerald City) as Anathema Device, Nina Sosanya (Love Actually) as Sister Mary Loquacious of the Chattering Order of St. Beryl, Ned Dennehy (Peaky Blinders) as Duke of Hell Hastur, Ariyon Bakare (Rogue One) as Duke of Hell Ligur, and Michael McKean (Better Call Saul) as Sgt. Shadwell.

Amazon’s Good Omens takes place in 2018, with the world on the brink of the apocalypse. Having lived on Earth for a long time, enjoying its perks and having grown fond of it, Aziraphale and Crowley aren’t happy to learn the end is nigh and go on a mission to sabotage the End of Times.

Good Omens is slated for a 2019 premiere on Amazon.
