Whether topping the naughty or nice list, you're gonna want this smokin' set of Star Trek episode lithos from artist Juan Ortiz. The new December quartet is tinseled with Frazetta Gorns, gothic skulls and western six-guns.
Juan Ortiz has the greatest job in the universe, creating memorable movie-style posters for the entire Star Trek: The Original Series TV show each month. For his fifth installment, the episodes chosen are "Arena," "The Naked Time," "A Taste of Armageddon" and "Spectre of the Gun." (That hammering noise you hear is a platoon of contractors installing more sheetrock in my man-cave to accommodate these festive beauties.)
The project is part of an ambitious 80-litho series, one for each episode, released just four per month over the next 16 months. His first four were released back in August, and if you're a bit behind, check out the previous issues for August, September, October and November. Individual pieces are themed to whatever mood and magic Ortiz is moved by, inspired by the realms of cartoons, movies, comics and television the artist grew up loving.
All posters are offered as a set of plate-printed lithographs on 100-pound, satin-finish paper. Each print is 18x24 inches, and a set of four costs $34.95. Some are already sold out, so check the supply here, along with Ortiz' candid comments on each of December's selections.
