With Revolution officially coming back for season two, NBC is adding yet another sci-fi vet behind the scenes to make sure it can match that early momentum. The latest? Farscape creator Rockne S. O’Bannon.
Since his latest CW series Cult crashed and burned, O’Bannon’s schedule is clear, so Eric Kripke (Supernatural) and J.J. Abrams (Lost) brought him on board to have a “heavy role” behind the scenes of the hit sci-fi series as work on season two cranks up.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, O’Bannon will serve as an executive producer behind Kripke, meaning he’ll definitely be involved in the day-to-day operations. In addition to Farscape and Cult, O’Bannon also had a hand in Syfy’s new hit series Defiance, Alien Nation and SeaQuest 2032.
Needless to say, the guy is a sci-fi legacy, and should be a welcome addition in the writers’ room for season two. After its initial 10-episode run, the writers opted for a soft reset with the back half of season one, which has made for an action-packed (though a bit awkward) transition into a bigger scope.
Considering O’Bannon’s experience with epic sci-fi worlds in Farscape and Defiance, he could have the right touch to help Revolution hit its stride next year.
Do you think O’Bannon will be a good fit for Revolution?
