Gun Media's Friday The 13th: The Game has earned a Guinness World Record, giving the indie video game some very special bragging rights. But the thing I find more interesting than the record itself is why they won. As fans of Friday The 13th ourselves, we really like the way the game earned the honor. Basically, it won thanks to the strength of its fanbase.
Guinness awarded the game the World Record for “Most Crowdfunded Videogame Based on a Movie” in its 2018 Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition book based on the $2 million Gun Media raised to make the game a reality.
That's not something you see every day.
The thing I found most endearing about this whole thing is that a fan was the first to post the news to the people who actually made the game. That's apropos, don'tcha think?
