Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for the live-action cinematic adaptation of the popular Japanese manga and anime, Fullmetal Alchemist, giving us a first look at several characters.
Other than the two main ones, I mean.
Enter: Winry Rockbell, Roy Mustang, Maes Hughes, Riza Hawkeye and the Homunculi (that's a word I never thought I'd ever write) Lust, Envy and Gluttony!
Directed by Fumihiko Sori (Ping Pong, Ashita no Joe), the movie stars Japanese actor/singer Ryosuke Yamada (Assassination Classroom) as (an aged up) Edward Elric, while his younger brother, Alphonse Elric, will be fully computer-generated as you can see in the trailer below.
Based on Hiromu Arakawa’s beloved action-fantasy manga of the same name, Fullmetal Alchemist is set in an Edwardian-style world where alchemy is a science, and State Alchemists work for the government. The story centers on brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric, who as children turn to the forbidden human transmutation to try to resurrect their death mother. That effort goes horribly wrong, destroying Alphonse’s body and severely injuring Edward, who then sacrifices his arm to rescue his brother’s soul and bind it to a suit of armor. Becoming State Alchemists, the brothers set off in search of the legendary Philosopher’s Stone to restore their bodies.
Fullmetal Alchemist will open in Japan in December. Let’s cross our fingers the movie will arrive stateside sooner rather than later.
