In case you missed it, the first trailer for The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials just dropped. It's the sequel to last year's hit that was headlined by Teen Wolf star Dylan O'Brien. In The Scorch Trials, the actor's latest obstacle makes the giant maze look like child's play. Enter the super talented, and very manipulative, Aiden Gillan (Game of Thrones).
Gillan plays Janson, a man who appears to offer salvation to this starved group of kids. Unfortunately, his intentions aren't pure, and they realize they've just given up one prison for another.
In this next chapter of the epic Maze Runner saga, Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) and his fellow Gladers face their greatest challenge yet: searching for clues about the mysterious and powerful organization known as WCKD. Their journey takes them to the Scorch, a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles. Teaming up with resistance fighters, the Gladers take on WCKD’s vastly superior forces and uncover its shocking plans for them all.
The Scorch Trials is a bit of a Game of Thrones reunion. Not only does Gillan have a prominent role, but so does Thomas Brodie-Sangster, who played Jojen Reed on the series. There's also Nathalie Emmanuel, who's best known for her role as Missandei, the Khaleesi's right-hand woman. The cast also includes Patricia Clarkson, Lili Taylor, Giancarlo Esposito and Barry Pepper.
The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials opens Sept. 18.
