The live-action version of Ghost in the Shell will still have a bit of old-school anime charm.
The original voice cast of Ghost in the Shell (1995) will return to reprise their roles for the Japanese-language cut of the live-action version of the film. The returning cast includes Akio Otsuka (Batou), Koichi Yamadera (Togusa) and Atsuko Tanaka (Major Motoko Kusanagi). Considering the studio has caught a bit of flack for casting Scarlett Johansson in the starring role, this is a move that should certainly inspire some good will among fans.
It's also a great move for the connective tissue of the franchise, because you know it would only be a matter of time before somebody dubbed in the voices of the original cast anyway.
The live action Ghost in the Shell opens March 31.
