The Ghost of Sparta faces a sea monster in E3 gameplay trailer for God of War

Sony PlayStation has unveiled a glorious five-minute E3 2017 gameplay trailer for the new God of War, which sees the Ghost of Sparta return for a new adventure.

In the upcoming video game from Santa Monica Studio and creative director Cory Barlog, Kratos is now “living as a man outside the shadow of the gods” who “must adapt to unfamiliar lands, unexpected threats, and a second chance at being a father. Together with his son Atreus, the pair will venture into the brutal Norse wilds and fight to fulfill a deeply personal quest.”

Gone are the warmer climes of ancient Greece; this time, the game will be set in the Nine Realms of Norse Mythology and include new creatures in the form of mighty trolls, dragons and the gigantic World Serpent (aka Jörmungandr) from Norse mythology, a creature who has a key role in bringing about Ragnarök.

However, fear not. A new setting doesn’t mean we’re not getting the same Kratos we all know and love! He may be older and wiser (and a father again), but the Ghost of Sparta will hack and slash his way across the game just the way we like it. Check out the gameplay trailer, and let us know what you think!

God of War will arrive in early 2018 only for PlayStation 4.
